In CT101 I learned many new skills, the most important skill was learning how to blog. The first assignment was to blog about something that makes you happy on the internet. This assignment was the one that initially got me into the habit of blogging and one I’m also exceptionally proud of. After this, I moved on to acquire more skills to better improve my blog posts. For instance, I didn’t know how to create a gif but little did I know, this was actually a relatively easy thing to do. Learning how to create a gif, enabled me to easily improve the quality of my blogging since I was now able to add more context to my posts. Here is one I created for my first assignment:
After getting the hang of blogging with gifs we then moved onto the next project, the animated gif portrait. Creating the animated gif portrait, was a little more difficult but I still managed to create a really nice one on the first try. However, I felt that I needed more practice so I tried a second one that also came out nice! This project as a whole was a bit more challenging but I still enjoyed the experience of learning and mastering this new skill! This is the first one I created:
After some time, we finally learned how to create websites! I found this to be the most exciting since I would finally have my own platform to creatively express myself and individuality. Customizing my website was a really fun experience for me as well since I was able to cater my website to my own personal style and taste. You can find my website here. In the midst of all this, we also learned how to create vaporwave! Even though it took me two classes to complete this, I was really pleased with how mine turned out. This project turned out to be my favorite one as I really loved the overall aesthetic of this assignment!
After doing the vaporwave assignment, I continued to experiment and build up my website to what it is now, which I’m pretty happy about. I feel as though my website has become my own personal space and feel more than comfortable using it to freely express my thoughts and emotions through this blogging experience. Reflecting on what I learned in this class, I really enjoyed my time here as I feel it definitely brought out my creative side. On another note, having a website and being able to maintain one can definitely be applied to the real world as well, so that is something I’ll have to remember for the future!
For this class, I want to believe I earned an A. I think my website, blogging, and assignments reflect the quality of my work since I put my best effort into everything I did. Along with this, I hope this effort will be recognized since this would be a great boost for me starting in the CT major. Aside from this, I would like to thank Professor Seslow for guiding me through CT101. I really benefited from his knowledge throughout the semester and appreciated his insight. My time in CT101 has truly been the best and with this experience, I’m happy with the fact that I chose CT as my major.
Classes have ended but finals have just begun. Finals can be very stressful in everyone’s case but I’m going to try to remind myself to not overthink it. I think it’s important to remember that exams are not everything in life. I will of course study for it, take it, and get it over with. I just think you shouldn’t put too much pressure on yourself over it.
Besides from this, I know I’ve worked pretty hard this semester and it will show regardless. It’s just a little annoying how finals week is also on my birthday week but at least I will have my favorite holiday to enjoy just a week after which is Christmas! Anyways, I hope everyone will have a happy holiday and eat lots of delicious food! Please stay positive! 🙂
Decided to take a quick selfie while blogging here so this is how I look! Since I’m basically introducing myself here I think it’s a good idea to include some quick facts while I’m at it: I’m Isabel (obvi), 18, 2nd yr, CT major and a minor in computer applications in business…and have interests that include makeup, fashion, and bts!… I’m also pretty shy and quiet in person but really friendly once I get to know you…nice to meet you!
I wanted to share this magazine cover design I did when I was in high school! Since I majored in graphic design, I thought it would be a good idea to share my favorite piece. We were allowed to be as creative we wanted for this project, so I chose to go for a theme that was more ominous and mysterious (hence, the name “Skeptic”) so, I went with conspiracy theories!
I tried to make another animated gif portrait and the process was a lot easier this time. I remembered the steps and made the separate layers accordingly and was able to combine them into one artboard in photoshop. I just needed to animate it so that was when I got help. However, I’m sure if I tried to do this again I’d be able to ace it. This is Jeon Jungkook (my bias lol) a member of the boyband BTS 🙂
For this assignment, I chose to do Kim Taehyung or otherwise known as V from the band BTS. I felt inspired to choose him as I recently saw the band live in concert and out of them all, he happened to catch my eye.
Anyways, while trying to create this animated gif on photoshop I was doing well but at some point, I got lost along the way. I was heavily confused by the multiple steps that had to be taken and got them mixed up. Thankfully, Professor Seslow was able to teach me these steps again and helped me fix the issues I was having. Hopefully, I’ll be able to master making another animated gif with some more practice but overall, I’m pretty pleased with the end result of this gif.
I’ve been actively following this Korean boyband for some time now and honestly I’ve become so hooked on them! Their music is always so inspiring plus the lyrics and messages behind each song makes them much more powerful as artists. They also are definitely very versatile as each song can be very different from the next as they tend to explore various concepts and themes throughout their music. They are also multitalented! As a group, they’re able to write their own lyrics, produce their own songs, sing, rap, and dance amazingly well, which all-in-all, gives them this extremely powerful aura! “Mic Drop” is a really good example of this aura:
As individuals, I find they never fail to put a smile on my face as they use their platform to spread positivity and love, especially self-love most of all, given their album series “Love Yourself”. Through these albums, they made me realize how before you can give love to other people you have to be able to love yourself first. So in other words, true love first begins with self-love. In the last album of the series “Love Yourself: Answer”, BTS demonstrates this theme of self-love in their title track “IDOL”, by using bright colors and upbeat tones to illustrate a celebration of them finally coming to terms with loving and accepting themselves for who they truly are.
In time, I found that BTS and their music brings me lots of happiness and joy. They truly give me inspiration to pursue my goals and they’ve helped me discover a much better version of me and with that, remind me to always stay true to myself. With this, I’m also happy to say that I’m excited to go see my idols perform in concert on October 6th.
Today, I would just like to share the posts and content that I created on CT101 to my website. I definitely feel reposting these entries here will allow me to really reflect on the work I did over this semester. After all, I feel very pleased with some of my entries and the creative aspects that went into my blogposts. I will definitely look back at these posts from time to time.
Creating vaporwave turned out to be a really fun experience! Most of all, I enjoyed the aesthetic of this project as I liked how heavily the colors could be saturated without limit. As could be seen, the color scheme of this project should mostly consist of bright blues, purples, and pinks. I also really feel like there is no wrong or right way to combine these images since you are free to add as many as you’d like as long as it fits the vaporwave aesthetic. The possibilities are definitely endless with creativity when it comes to vaporwave!
Finally having my own website, I’ve been able to learn how to navigate throughout the different tools and functions that come with it. For example, I’ve learned how to create menus and add plugins to my website to better enhance it. I think I can now say with what I’ve learned, I feel more comfortable when it comes to customizing my own website. Over time, I hope I’ll be able to customize the interface more to my liking so it can be more individualistic and unique.
